GENETIC IDENTIFICATION UNIT (UNIGEN)

 

BRIEF HISTORICAL REVIEW

 

 

The GENETIC IDENTIFICATION UNIT (UNIGEN - UMSA) since 2013 has been researching and providing services in various specific problems of human identification and sequencing through DNA tests to the scientific community and the Bolivian population.

The Human Identification tests can be applied in the approach of genetic studies, determination of Paternity, maternity, missing persons in recent samples or old data such as bone remains.

The Unit of Genetic Identification (UNIGEN) of the Degree in Biochemistry of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Biochemical Sciences of the UMSA, collaborates in the field of research and the provision of services to the Bolivian population.

In UNIGEN laboratories it is possible to identify an individual from very small biological samples such as saliva, blood, hair, nails and also in cadaveric samples and old data such as bone remains and teeth.

Objectives

 

The Unit of Genetic Identification dependent on the Biochemistry Career of the FCFB, UMSA , is a center that aims to develop research projects, the provision of services and training to the University community and the Bolivian population.
